THE DREADLOCK LADY - EPISODES 4 - 6

Image
Episode Four  The fresh green leaves on the  mango trees lining the school's entrance are swaying gently to the cool morning breeze. The sun's rays are yet to get hotter. I shuffle by two ladies leaning on their jeeps, which I presume should be parents of the pupils I coach. I recognize the other lady. The lady with the wig and figure like maltex bottle from the lounge.  "Good morning!" I greet mildly praying the other lady doesn't recall my face. I wonder why I'm getting worried when I didn't insult her. "Good morning!" They chorus in return.  "Hello my dear" the other one prompts me.  She is the plump dark lady who has her voluptuous body well packaged in her knee length denim dress. "You are the one coaching our children in grade 4?" She questions. Her voice, placid.  "Yes ma!" I reply smiling molar to molar feeling proud and gaze briefly at the concrete walkway where she's pacing towards ...

THE DREADLOCK LADY - EPISODES 1-3

Episode one. The evening jams are really getting to me as I'm nodding to the thrilling Nigerian oldies tunes while sipping my soft drink by the poolside. Today is usually for oldies. Other people are sitting too enjoying their drinks. Two ladies and a man are the prominent people I sight. This D.J is really giving me the vibes. This must be why I crave coming to this particular bar down my street. The ambience from the dim coloured lights and the way they revolve round would make me hide comfortably. Even if I happen to sight someone I know, I can choose to greet or ignore them. Sitting by the pool side, I try to recall how I messed up yesterday. Just while I'm thinking and feeling terrible about messing up, I sight Grace advancing towards me. Grace, Slim shady as we fondly call her isn't looking happy today. Her swift steps and frown are reflecting anger. I decide it's better I stand to greet her and at least explain myself but while I'm getting on ...

Wives Of The South. Episode 1-5

EPISODE ONE Otonye, a coco brown lady, young and gorgeous, sits idly at the elegant dining table, starring at the busy street through her thick glass slide door of their magnificent duplex. She is preoccupied with the thoughts of the previous weeks. While the sound of a dozen cars zooming off, tearing down the road only to hit heavy traffic at the major junction, lingers. She hears the screaming that is hers and recalls how she lifts her hands as protective covering against Obong’s hard blows. "But did they even refrain him?" She sighs, getting up from where she is sitting and goes back into the main parlour. She hears the doorbell ring. ‘That must be Nkeni’ she concludes and bends to pick up her phone from the parlour’s centre table. She breezes past the Bar where her husband spoils himself and also drinks to stupor. This is after he has hit at her and left her cursing him while she’s wailing on the bathroom floor. She opens the door with a wide smile flashing her side...

WIVES OF THE SOUTH

#wivesofthesouth  Hello. Hope you're all doing good. Wives of the South is the first fiction story I intend to share here. I would have most episodes of this epic story running, beginning from my next post. It's one of the stories I've written that I cherished every step I took, along  the way. It's a story about women. Predominantly, the  main characters are female as the title suggests.  That doesn't say there are no interesting male voices. I would love to read reviews and comments  as well, with every episode I share. Much love. Rita George.
